The Wonders Of Google

Like any other blogger, I want to increase traffic to my site. Why? Well, frankly because then I know I'm not writing in vain. Speaking to a brick wall in other words. As much as I enjoy writing this blog, I hope others enjoy reading it.

To see if my blog is loved by you wonderful internets, I occasionally check Google Analytics or Sitemeter. The best part of that for me (besides peeking at the page views of course) is to see how all of you stumble across Michelle & the City. Most of you pop over from some of my fabulous blogging friends' pages (One Big Holiday, Clink, and Tina Vaziri to name a few). Quite a few have found my blog through our 20-somethings network. A small percentage of you have come from certain keyword searches on Google, and these stats are the most fun to look at. Some of them are pretty damn funny.

Other bloggers compose these lists on occasion, so I think I'm going to try to share some of mine with you guys once a month just for kicks. Whaddya say? *that's a rhetorical question - I'm going to do it anyway, so there

tatertot casserole
Apparently this is a popular one. Nearly 40 of you have searched for this and came to my blog. Hope you enjoyed the recipe - I know some of my readers did!

alright french fries walmart
I love french fries. Especially dipped in ranch. Wal-mart is a necessary evil in my life right now, but only for its prices. I guess if you want to buy their french fries, don't hope for anything more than just "alright".

as jensen ackles got a facebook account
Did he really? Why didn't you tell me sooner? You see, this HOT actor is on "my list*" and if I can get a hold of him through facebook than I'm one step closer, right? Does it count as randomly running into a celebrity if you e-mail them first?

*You know the list I'm referring to... don't you? Well, if I happen to get the opportunity to *ahem* have my way with any of the 5 celebrities listed in my sidebar I'm allowed without fear of any consequences. I suggest if you and your significant other don't already have a similar arrangement you best get on that! But rules are rules - there has to be about a one in a million chance that you'd ever really run into them. Otherwise its cheating folks. Plain and simple.

fun things to do at a preteen slumber party
I really hope you are either a.) a mother or b.) a preteen. Otherwise, you're just plain creepy.

he aint the leavin kind meaning
Well, as a Rascal Flatts fan I can tell you it's about God. And not being a very religious person, I still find this song to be amazing. Gives me chills every time.

keep hitting the snooze button solutions
I really wish I could help you with this, but I have the same problem buddy. The snooze button is the spawn of Satan. It's the plain and simple truth.

keep me warm inside you
Ew. Um, no thanks. Find yourself an apple pie. And if you don't get that reference you really need to watch American Pie.

what does kosher mean?
I asked the same question. Apparently coming to my site didn't help you. Sorry about that.

brad paisleys bus driver
Don't know him. But I can tell you how I feel about bus drivers.

ginormous jugs 2
Yes I have a set. What's it to you? Or is this a porn sequel? Hmmm...not sure if I want to know.

getting involved with the boss
I don't know your particular situation but it worked out well for me. But then again, my boss was a total hottie (well he still is of course)! If yours is, I say go for it! But don't come crying to me if you get fired!!

Do you enjoy finding out how people come to find your blog as much as I do?

I LOVE reading my stats. I use Site Meter and Google Analytics. A-MAZ-ING! I love finding out all the random things that bring people to my site.

Also, I'm totally making the Tator Tot Casserole tonight! Thanks!

I love to see how people find my site. I usually get a bunch of broken-hearted people because I often see the terms "girlfriend stopped calling" or "when to leave marriage". It's kind of sad, really.

I love looking at the search topics that people use to find my site. Poop is always there..haha.. I've become that person who talks about poop too much...whoops

hahahaha snooze solutions...oh boy. If only there was a solution. I have to set my alarm for an hour before i want to get out of bed. Boyfriends old alarm was one of those god awful buzz sounding ones...i hated it. So when i moved in i brought my radio alarm...buuuttt it automatically shuts off after an hour. But! it has two alarms! It's sad that i have to set two alarms because i can't get my butt out of bed an hour after my alarm goes off :(

Totally entertaining, Michelle! I love reading mine too, even though, lately they have not been as funny as they used to be a few months ago. No idea why.

I'm glad you get some traffic from my site because I love your blog. <3

Mine aren't as funny! Alynda got stinky thongs. Hahaha. I guess I should be grateful?

I keep getting camera and lens searches, also "song meanings". Hmm. And bunny love. Oh, and existential therapy mishaps. Hehe.

Nice Google-age Michelle! With your huge jugs and my stinky thong, we'll make a great team. *snorts*

You know, it's tiring searching through how people found by blog. Most are by searching "babysitting games" and "games like MASH". Really, is that all I'm good for?

That's cool, I would actually like to find out how people come to my blog, but since I've been writing for three short months, I need to web out my network first :)...

haha that's great! other than the obvious link from other blogs, most people get to mine by googling song lyrics... as all of my posts seem to start with a line from whatever i am listening to at the time :) unfortunately no crazy random things just yet!

do you even have to ask? i've never heard of google analytics - i gotta check that out!!

Anonymous said...

Yes! I love it! Google analytics you say? I'm off!

Ha! I also occasionaly check my site meter (like every 4 minutes!!!). Apparently "cats breastfeeding" is a very popular search for my site. Really?

Anonymous said...

Yes I do. Unfortunately most of mine come from people searching things related to Boobs.

Or shoes. :)

Just found your blog, you're hysterical! And I love finding out how people found my blog... usually has something to do with "jewish" or "JAP" since thats in my title.

I totally love finding out how people found me. However, it's usually something x-rated because of "fanny". But for the real people that leave comments? I love tracing the blogger trail. It's such a little fantastic community we have here!

Have a great weekend :)

The perverted ones are always best. My current favs? Pornstar with PhD (more than one search), Are you Ready for Massive Mammories, and Naked May Pole Dancing.

Oh! Just checked again, and I have some new ones.
"e cup stories"- Came to the wrong place, buddy!
"Naked mole rat looking like dick"- Uhhhh....
"What happens to onions in the salt water"- They get salty and wet?
