Playing Catch Up

Wendy, Pessimistic Redhead and July Bug have all tagged me recently for a random facts meme.

So here goes, 7 pretty irrelevant (but oh so intriguing) things about me:

  1. If I am really enjoying the song on the radio as I pull in my garage at night: I crank up the music full blast, shut the garage door and rock out in the driver's seat until it has ended. All while singing at the top of my lungs. I may have done this today to "Firecracker" by Josh Turner.
  2. I own a coupon organizer. It has alphabetical tags to sort coupons by brand name or store. And yes, I use it.
  3. I used to love origami, the art of paper folding. I was never any good at it. I should have known after many failed attempts as a kid to make paper snowflakes. I would try to cut an intricate design and would accidentally cut it in half.
  4. I won the school spelling bee in 8th grade and went on to the citywide competition. Was out in the first round on the word "balsam". I still hesitate when trying to spell it.
  5. I tried out for the cheerleading squad in the 4th grade. I'm not sure if I was purposely trying to humiliate myself or if I really thought I would make it. Because as you all know from my Never Have I Ever post I can't do a cartwheel to save my life.
  6. I can sign the entire alphabet. Lately I've had the desire to learn sign language. I think I might attempt it this year.
  7. I used to camp out in my sleeping bag on the floor of my room, the living room or the back porch as a kid. For some reason it always felt like I was getting away from reality. On vacation. The last time I was home I was eyeing the sleeping bags stored in my bedroom closet. Next time, I'm totally taking 'em.

Consider yourself tagged if you like!

Um, first comment?? I'm shocked! I also do the same thing in my car with good music. Nothing's better than rocking out when no one's watching!

I loved sleeping in sleeping bags when I was little too! My sister and I would camp out on the living room floor complete with flashlights and ghost stories. Even funnier? We shared a room so it wasn't like we didn't stay up at night scaring each other most nights.

lol i sometimes use coupons too. my Mr Big found one in my car and started laughing how I wanted to save $1 on deorderant. but seriously, if a company wants to give me a free dollar for something I'm gonna already buy- why not?

Are you sure this list wasn't supposed to be called '7 dorky things about me'? ;-)

Also, did you know that you can fold a piece of paper a maximum of 7 times, irrespective of its size?!

Much deserved nominations, my dear :).
I don't have a car, but I do the same thing with my iPod when I walk into my front door when a good song is playing.

I do the same thing in my car. I am obsessed with my music. I can never cut it off midway, and I mean NEVER.

I used to do the sleeping bag drill inside the house :)
ah and origami, they have you tube videos on origami, you can master the art now....

Cheerleading? In elementary school? Really? That sort of frightens me. I'm not going to lie.

And I totally voted yesterday. You know you got my vote! :)

I learned one song in sign language at summer camp and I still know it!

That song? Wind Beneath My Wings.

I won the spelling bee in 6th grade and at regionals I got eliminated with prism. I feel your pain, LOL.

I do the same thing in my car! When I had a garage I would actually get out and dance around. It scares my neighbors now, so I refrain.

I have the same thing for coupons. Who doesn't?

I tried out for the cheerleading squad too. But, just like you, I can not to a cartwheel whatsoever.

Ooh, I know the sign language alphabet too! I wish we lived closer so we could take a class together or something!

Sleeping bags on the living room floor were THE BEST! I wonder if it would have the same effect now? :)

I should get a coupon organizer, because then maybe I would actually use the coupons I cut out. But I always used to have to organize my parents' coupons when I was little, and I hated it, and so now I just can't bring myself to get my own coupon organizer. Oh well.

It's never too late to learn to do a cartwheel :)

I love Firecracker. There aren't too many things that make me laugh like listening to my almost 5 year old sing portions of that song.

I used to have a coupon organizer. It was all sorts of pretty and useful but I never used it.

Ok, the first thing on your list is cool, I do it too, but please leave the garage door up if your car is running and in the garage. I don't want you to die.

Also, I LOVE sign language. I know, or rather I used to know, quite a bit. There are all sorts of places we could go to learn more for free...let me know if you're interested.

I took sign language during my senior year of high school and loved it! It was really fun and actually pretty easy to learn. Go for it girl!

Congrats on the nominations!!

I'd love to learn sign language too...I still regret not taking it in college, but for some reason I chose sticking with Spanish instead.

I can't do a cartwheel either :(

In the car rocking-out is one of the things I miss most about driving.

There's something totally different about listening to music in the car than on headphones or at home.

I caaaan't get a coupon organizer because then I've officially become my mother.

I have always wanted to learn sign language! We watched a really inspirational video about it in my Intro to Psych class sophomore year.

And please, I do not judge you on your coupon organizer. In fact, I think it's amazing.

Hi, I would have been rejected so fast from cheerleading because I lack grace and flexibility that it would make your head spin.

I've heard there are online coupon networks where people share coupons they won't use in exchange for those who will. Kinda scary, but amazing to hear the stories of how much money these women save!

I used to be almost fluent in ASL but have since forgotten almost all of it. I need to pick it back up, because it's such an amazing language.

Once I move out I definitely plan on utilizing a coupon organizer, they are amazing.

And camping out on your bedroom floor, you are not alone. Granted I think I moved to the backyard when I camped out, same thing :)

You've had reason to spell "balsam" outside of a spelling bee? Really? I'm intrigued ...

I used to camp out in my bro's room inside a ninja turtle tent.

...I was weird.

I tried out for cheerleading too when I was in the 4th grade. Luckily I didn't make the team! At the time I was heart broken but I decided to play soccer instead...which became my favorite sport of all time and helped pay for my college!

There's this new song I'm obsessing about ... "First Time" by Life House.

You should listen to it.

Hi Michelle,

I learned the sign language alphabet after reading The Helen Keller Story, and I still know it! In fact, I've been entertaining my baby with it. For some reason, it fascinates him, so even if he's crying because he's waiting for food or whatever, I can sign and appease him while we wait for dad.

It's been so long, things have been so hectic here, with going back to work and everything, but I just wanted to say that I'm glad that things are looking up for you! I knew things would get better.

Your apartment looks great...like a pro designed it. Well, I guess a pro did design it! And I like your haircut, too.

Take care! I'll catch up someday (maybe).

I can sign the entire alphabet too! I learned it in middle school so my friends and I could pass messages without anyone knowing. Needless to say, it took forever hehe.

I lost a spelling bee on the word "renovator." That totally blows.

I learned the sign language alphabet in first grade and still remember it.
