What's Your Beef Wednesday

I'm bringing back the What's Your Beef Wednesday tradition. Mainly because I have things I want to bitch about. You do too, right?

  • Cheating Bastards. Especially cheating bastards that hurt friends of mine. Not cool. You know you're going to eventually get caught don't you? Seriously when did men start to suck so much? (Oh wait...you can read the answer to that in The Men Suck Edition of my What's Your Beef Wednesday posts)
  • People with no dignity. Kari and I were finishing our Christmas shopping last night and we passed a guy digging in his nose right out in the open! Like in public where literally everyone walking down that aisle could see. Do you have no shame? Gross.
  • Texting instead of Conversing. Maybe I should take a lesson from obsessive texters considering my phone bill last month, but this really bugs me. If you want to talk to me please call. (Flirty texts are completely acceptable of course.) This isn't just a guy thing, it goes for friends too. Have a quick question? OK, texting is fine. But if we go back and forth for more than 10 or 15 minutes don't be surprised if I go ahead and dial your number. I'm sure a 15 minute text conversation would be about a 2 minute phone conversation.
  • Getting the last of the peanut butter out of the jar. This goes for fluff too. Why do I always buy the largest container they have? I feel like it's a waste if I don't get every last little bit of peanut buttery goodness yet I always manage to get some on my hands. And yes, I use a knife.
  • Christmas music. Maybe I'm a scrooge but I can't take it anymore. I change the station every time a Christmas song comes on the radio. Even my favorite country station plays at least one an hour if not more. Bah humbug.
  • My cat, Holly. Lately she has been driving me nuts! Monday night GQ and I watched as she hang glided on the curtains in the living room. While he found it funny, I was thinking about the holes that were slowly being created and the new curtains I am eventually going to have to buy. Oh and rugs too because apparently the scratching post I got for you isn't good enough. How about you keep your claws to yourself missy?!

So tell me - what's been getting on your nerves?

Ughhh I hate that about peanut butter!!

And I also hate obsessive texters. Love texting but not when it entails talking baout my entire weekend or what my plans are for the next month. You clearly have my #, dial it!

Thanks for totally having my back, Michelle. HATE. CHEATING. BASTARDS. And the text message thing? I have to admit that I'm a compulsive texter. Because I'm a multi-tasker. I can get WAY more done.

And um, my Wednesday beef? CHEATING BASTARDS. Ooh wait. We already covered that.

:)

How about co-workers who are fake nice b/c it's the holidays and then you have to talk to them at holiday parties. yucko.

Friends who ask you out to dinner and then sit on their phone texting some guy through the whole dinner... and giggling OUT LOUD at each text. Very nice.

Don't think I've commented before, so first, I'll say - Hi!

I agree on the cheating bastards thing. There is one in particular right now I really wanna smack over the head with a heavy object for screwing over my friend.

Also, people who stand right in front of the buttons in the elevator so no one else can push their floor. Or right in front of the door so no one else can get out on their floor. Or both. Which happened to me this morning. Grrr...

Also fresh on my mind is the jingling of the change/tips jar in my face by the cashier at Dunkin Donuts after I bought my coffee in a blatant bid for a higher holiday tip. Sorry, you overcharge for your coffee as it is, AND you just jacked your prices up, you are not getting all of my $0.85 in change just because it's the holiday season. Just accept the non-quarters change (cuz I need to do laundry) like I usually give.

You are not a Scrooge... I'm about to tear my ears off over Christmas music too. Other than that and Cheating Bastards, of course, nothing is really getting on my nerves because I'm in hazy "I'm going on vacation" mode and all is right with the world.

My beef this Wednesday are the co-workers who call their friends/family and have FIGHTS with them. Over the phone. In the middle of the workday. When they are surrounded by other cubicles. Can't this wait until lunch break, or if not, can't they go outside? As juicy as it was the first twenty times to hear them scream at their mom, it's getting old. SO LEAVE.

And text message conversations. I totally agree with you there. And cheating bastards. Let's get 'em.

Haha, we must have been reading each other's minds this morning! I did a list of things bugging me today, titled "WTF?"

I'm with you on the texting thing. I don't mind it if it's just one thing you need to tell me, but to have entire CONVERSATIONS through texting? So.Annoying.

Oh, and a suggestion -- for your cat, did you buy a scratching board that includes catnip? They work wonders. You'll be amazed at how crazy your cat goes on it! If you did, then sorry...I got nothin'. LOL!

Um, 3 of my 4 'serious' relationships ended because of the douchebag cheating on me. I've developed a no tolerance policy. WHAT.THE.HECK.

I'm bothered by the half of the contractors at work who find it acceptable to whistle at me whenever I walk near them. However, the other half of the contractors are complete gentlemen. They could be thinking the same thing, but at least they keep it in their brain until I'm out of sight/hearing distance.

- the mildew smell in my office because of the gigantic LEAK (more like FLOOD) that moistened everything on and around my desk

- the fact that there is only ONE counterperson working at CVS and ALL I WANT IS SOME G-D NASAL SPRAY, PEOPLE!

- the restaurant people that send us a fax every day detailing their menu selections for the day. It is always HAND WRITTEN (bad!) and prints on TWO pages. The second page always has a SMALL DOT on it, so I can't use the page again.

Sorry, you gave me an opportunity, and I took it :)

What DOESN'T irritate me??

I'm with you about texting. Its so annoying! When did talking to people become such a hassle that you have to send short sentences with everything abbreviated?

I'm also annoyed with forwarded e-mails. "Be thankful for..." blah blah blah or some not very funny images. It floods my inbox this time of year!

And man, I really could go on but I'll stop before I get myself all worked up!

I, too, suffer from the peanut butter and fluff issue. As for texting, I would ALWAYS call, as I don't have the slightest clue how to text.

Good Lord Girl. I am allllll over this.

My MIL. She was coming up for Christmas. Wait, gas is too pricey, not coming up for Christmas. Why don't we go to TN for Christmas? Wait, she'll come up after Christmas, maybe. Perhaps.

My SIL. Driving from Alabama to Connecticut with her boyfriend. Making a stop over at our house in PA, not a big deal, but is doing it before Christmas. We are leaving to go out of town Saturday. So that means we are having houseguests sometime between now and Saturday. Maybe. Perhaps.

GOOD LORD. Burn my ass.

HATE texting. HATE IT! a little we're on our way, or got here safe, or something short and cute - OK. Conversations - NOT OK.

Clink said...

Um, yeah, men who cheat are right up there.

And I'm a compulsive texter! I can't help it! I agree with La - it allows me to multi-task (and by multi-task, I really mean watch Real Housewives and chat with a friend at the same time).

dreamgirl said...

i HATE christmas shopping & wrapping. i hate text conversations. i hate holiday weight gain. i hate stupid cheating men too!

A Margarita said...

Definitely men who cheat! A**wipes.

I'm guilty of over-texting. And then I complain about people who text me rather than call, lol.

Right now my major beef is my lack of a guy who worships the ground I walk on. Is that too much to ask? I think not.

Liz said...

Dude! Fanny's story is freaking heartbreaking! Ugh, guys like that piss me off so bad!

megabrooke said...

I'm the same way about texting. And the peanut butter! And cheaters suck! My cat doesn't use his scratching post either!

a guy digging in his nose
There is a guy at work that is INFAMOUS for it. I learned a new lesson the other day at training. Never sit across from him. I swear he was knuckles deep in his nose at least three times.

Passionista said...

The texting thing gets on my nerves too! I have one friend who has actually worn down some of the buttons to the point where you can't see the numnbers anymore...yeah. I also am annoyed by emails from my mom, she feels the need to remind me of unnecessary things and asks me the same questions at least three times! Ugh! lol

ha, well...how many words am I limited to?

How about the people who when you finally call them back after a 15 min texting sesh, won't even answer their phone?

Don't even get me started.

My stupid sore throat is getting on my nerves because I have so many fun activities planned this week that I may have to miss out on if it gets worse. UGH

Stephanie said...

Agreed on the texting. I don't have unlimited texts people, JUST CALL ME!

Pushy, shovy people on the subway. Just CALM DOWN already.

everything is getting on my nerves right now and I'll have to agree that Christmas music is at the top of the list. Especially the new stuff they are coming out with...trying to make it into pop music and all. UGH.

i hate working on a wednesday right before a long vacation.

VACATION PLEASE COME YOU ARE NOT HAPPENING SOON ENOUGH!

Trish Ryan said...

Hysterical post. And you're so right about (well everything, but specifically...) the texting instead of conversing. I haven't let myself get into texting because I'm afraid that if I do, I'll never have another live conversation again.

Tina Poe said...

Michelle, I never text, I feel like a old person when I say that. But seriously? Why do I want to be charged for receiving and sending a text that will take me 5 mins to type out, when I can just call you for FREE and say what I need to in 2 seconds.

there's one thing that always consistently drives me nuts. i'm sure you can guess.

brandy said...

It's not all Christmas music that is beginning to drive me batty. It's the one damn song by Mariah Carey that has me wanting to choke Santa. If I hear that song again, I may try to overdose on fruitcake or eggnog- just to put myself out of my misery.

Anonymous said...

did i actually *wince* as i read about the peanut butter pain? yes, i did. (did i also love that you mentioned fluff? yes, i did.)

and i loled everywhere at your comment about the christmas music. it keeps starting earlier and earlier EVERY YEAR. so while it used to be only the week of christmas, or before, now it's starting as early as THANKSGIVING.

and, um. apparently. your pet peeves are my own, too. thanks for letting me vent!

Katelin said...

I am right there with you on the text messaging. I am just not a texter. I don't mind one here and there, but full on conversations...I don't think so. A phone call is the way to go.

And my other beef of the day is when I get told one thing but eventually get told to do something else. Sheesh.

Le Petit Chic said...

I have the same problem with peanut butter! Perhaps it's because I buy the largest jar possible too, but hey, it's cost effective, right?!

Lisa said...

But I LURV Christmas music. Do you have the new Josh Groban cd? GET IT. Also I am emailing you a song that technically counts as Christmas. You just have to listen to the RIGHT festive melodies. Check your email in a second.

Good lordie, Girl. Do you NORMALLY get this many comments? Holy..

Anyway, I always like to offset loathing things with loving things. You know..balance, yin and yang, whatever.

So, What the BEST Wednesday? (Creative, I know. ;-) )

- You. You're so funny. You're so cool. You're a great read too!
- Umm..I happen to love Christmas music. I can't get enough. I'm sorry. Your beef is because people like me.
- Cookies. I friggin' love Christmas Cookies.
- My cats. Even though they claw everything and omigod, one cat peed on my blanket, we washed it, and then the other cat threw up on it.
They still bring me so much joy. I know I'm not ready for kids right now (Or even puppies for that matter!) And they're the sweetest things, and so easy to take care of! Hehe..

Again, I heart you.

i saw a girl pick her nose and put it under the seat she was sitting on at the station. I told her she was gross.

well she was.

texting is for sure annoying, haha but i'm not ready to give up my Sirius Channel 2 Christmas hits station!!! :)

L Sass said...

YES! No overdone texting!! A friend of mine broke up with the guy she's been dating last night and she tried to tell me the story via text. I finally gave up and emailed her. Grr..

Also, I HATE a certain Cheating Bastard too.

Lisa said...

Cheating bastards, DEFINITELY. People who text at the dining table. My aunt does that. It pisses me off. I mean, come on, you're almost 60 years old. Grow some manners.

I must have channeled you yesterday, because I blogged about stupid people during holiday shopping. I'm right with you re. Christmas songs ... one radio station I listen to turns all Christmas beginning on November 1. It seriously kills me to hear Silent Night the day after Halloween!

christmas music drives me crazy too. and then i wonder why i am not in the holiday spirit!?!

I HATE Christmas music. You're not alone. And I love Christmas so I refuse to think I'm any kind of scrooge.
