Beware Of The Sleepwalker

Phone conversation between Clancy & I yesterday afternoon:

C: Hi babe. Do you remember getting up in the middle of the night last night?
M: (Chuckling) No. What did I do?
C: You walked over to the window, the shades were still pulled down, and you made this ... noise ... you know like the one you made yesterday when you swallowed the ice cube*. You stood there for like 30 seconds or so. I kept saying "What? What?" but you didn't respond. Then you crawled back in bed and I asked again "What is WRONG with you?". And you told me "You wouldn't understand."

The last time I sleepwalked was when I was six years old, so I found this pretty amusing. Clancy ... not so much. He now believes that he needs to hide his pocket knife so that I don't unknowingly try to kill him in his sleep. Come on, I'm harmless ;)

*Yes I'm a dumbass and swallowed an ice cube while at Cedar Point on Sunday. It hurt like hell and felt like glass - I am SO NOT exaggerating.

haha...i bet clancy wishes he had gotten that on tape somehow. it always amazes me how people sleepwalk. good think you didn't hurt yourself! the one and only time i remember sleepwalking, i was about 8 years old and somehow must've gotten up in the middle of the night and walked down the hall to the bathroom. i woke up on the bathroom floor in the morning with no recollection of how i'd gotten there. ha.

HA! "You wouldn't understand." I think I'm going to use that line in the near future and blame it on sleepwalking!

Oh my god, that must have hurt so much.

HAHAHAHA. Omigod. I am cracking up about the conversation you two had.

But swallowing an ice cube? Like a full-sized one? Um, ouch.

This made me giggle. I think I'm going to do something completely random today and follow it with a 'you wouldn't understand' and see if it stops further questions. As for the ice cube, I've done that. And it hurt like a mofo. Why don't people fully understand just how dangerous ice cubes can be?? It felt like I was swallowing an cold, glassy cube of pain.

Haha. I love that you told him that he wouldn't understand. Don't you wonder what was going through your head?! So funny. :)

omg. i'm osrry, but i'm laughing at you at my desk right now. no, not at you. with you....teehee....see? we're both laughing ;)

altho i must say, i feel for clancy, because M is NOT a good sleeper. meaning talking in his sleep, has dreams, jerks around, and so forth. i joke with him that i need to wear combat gear to bed. he does not think i am funny. me? however? hilarious.

(oh, and i'm happy to see you recovered form the ice experience.)

and p.s. isn't it ironic, that where you are at, you had to work on columbus day? just saying. ;)

OMG MIchelle that is half hilarious and half scary! If C started to sleepwalk and didn't respond to me in the middle of the night I would freak out a bit!

YOU SWALLOWED AN ICE CUBE??

That is really funny, but I would be totally disturbed if I was C and had no idea what was going on! lol

Ha! Great story. Poor Clance.

That's too funny! The first and only time I sleepwalked was in high school. Apparently I just got out of bed, walked to the living room, and slept on the couch.

haha thats great! Boyfriend tells me when i mumble. Though my favorite stories about sleep walking are either a. when my sister got up and started my mothers car (she also almost peed in my closet once when we were younger) or b. my sophomore year roommate was working at best buy part time but it was christmas time so she was putting in a lot of hours and so one night she said "would you like to open a best buy card today?" i was up late working on papers and had to go out into our living room to contain my laughter

That is so funny. I wonder if you were mad at him in your sleep. My roommate in college used to talk to me in her sleep it provided great entertainment.

ice cube in throat = ouch!

I snore and mumble, but have apparently never walked.. I think it just makes you very talented! ;)

Ouch on the icecube.

That's too funny - you should ask him to record your sleeping conversations next time. Mark did that with me when one time I sat straight up in bed in the middle of the night and yelled, "I WANT SOME PEAS!"

Funny thing is, I absolutely DESPISE peas.

Oh my heck, that is funny! "You wouldn't understand." I would just love to know what was going through your brain just then ;)

HA! I sleepwalk sometimes too and I think it is so creepy! I love the weird things we say and do when we are asleep...and it's even better for the person on the other end who try to make sense of it.

I am a total sleeptalker, and I get really irate when my guy doesn't understand what I am referring to!

and the line "you wouldn't understand" (while you are sleepwalking)...
hahaha

Exquisite, I'm laughing my ass off (and this is making sitting, unduly complicated)....

I sleep walk and talk and it can get really creepy for anyone around me! I act out dreams and once even took a shower while sleep walking only to realize when I woke up from my dream that it was only 1:00 a.m.! So yeah, I completely understand what you did. And I also saw a Dateline episode where sleep walkers died because they fell out windows and walked into oncoming traffic! So that freaked me out. Good thing I live alone now..

Try swallowing a chip. Hurts like a B. I don't sleepwalk myself but I got attacked by a sleepwalker at camp once. She came over to my bunk and started hitting me and my bunkmate in the face....

I must now point you to my "married life" posts. :)

Nick is a sleepwalker too. The first time or two scared the crap out of me, but now I'm so used to it I hardly remember to ridicule him the next day.
