I Wish I Could Bottle That Sound

I heard a laugh today that reminded me so much of someone I care about, I couldn't help but giggle. It was the gut-wrenching, you totally crack me up kind of laugh. I've never been able to laugh like that. When I find something truly hilarious, I normally am unable to breathe or let out any noise at all. (Huh, oddly enough that doesn't just happen with really good humor.*)

I wasn't around to hear what was so funny, I only heard the vocal repercussion. But that one laugh reminded me of a chance. Of a debate. Of a realization. Of a parking lot. I love how certain sounds and smells are able to take us back to a single moment. I've written about it before, but it never ceases to amaze me.

I hope I get to hear that laugh for a long time to come.

What have you been reminded of lately?

*Yes, that does mean what you think it means.

Even in LA, we get excited about beautiful days that culminate into a beautiful sunset at the end of the day. And some days it reminds me of the long summer days growing up in Michigan. How you just wanted that feeling of warmth and happiness to continue. How you took full advantage of the long day by playing silly games with your friends, and how lying in the grass and looking up to the clouds was a good enough activity to fill your time.

I've been reminded how much I need the sun. No matter how cold it is outside. Man, this winter was brutal and I'm so glad we've made the turn. Even though it's not yet warm, at least the sun comes out!

I've been reminded of how important my friends are too me each time we hang out.... and when I see how my sister doesn't really have any close friends who have known her forever.

Wow, I'm super cheesy today. Yay!

My cousin was here this past weekend so that she could visit Denison, and I took her out there and walked around and it was like nothing had changed in the three years since graduation. I really would not have been surprised if my friends had suddenly walked out of the library and joined me so that we could catch up on gossip and debate our plans for the night. I miss that college you-can-do-anything-you-want feeling.

OhMyDrama always says to me, "Emma, one day - if we ever fall out of touch, which i hope we don't - I will recognize you in the mall or wherever purely by the sound of your cough." Heh heh...I'd much rather be remembered by my giggle :)

I was out on a date last night and the restaurant was playing a Norah Jones CD, which used to be one of my mom's favorite CDs.
