It Was A Hoppin' Good Time

Highlights from my Easter weekend:

  • Easter egg coloring with Clancy on Friday night. Feeling like a kid and proclaiming, "Oh babe! Look at this one!". Completely in awe of my three colored egg skills. (And you'll notice in the picture below the very shiny egg - that's what you get when you mix boys and egg coloring. They break out the unconventional methods - spray paint.)

  • Bringing my grandma Easter dinner in the hospital. Listening to my dad, his sister and my grandparents reminisce about "back in the good ole days" when there were no seat belts and my dad's head hit the radio dial in the car after an abrupt stop. We've had a lot of stitches in our family. The stories kept coming.

  • Visiting with Rachel and hubby Brian. And meeting the newest member of their family - baby kitty Tycho :)

  • TWO Easter dinners where there was ham. And lots of it. I may in fact be hammed-out.

  • Spending time with my brother. He never fails to make me laugh. His latest success - playing the new rap track that he recorded with a friend. Properly entitled "Cankles".

  • Scattergories, Yahtzee Turbo and Uno Stacko tournaments.

  • The fact that I'm not too old for Easter goodies. Pictured below: the "Easter basket" from my mom full of my favorites - Jelly Bellys. And the grass? Totally edible. Also, totally tastes like cardboard.

  • UPDATE: My favorite radio station has proclaimed this week "Peep Torture Week". Even though I love the candy, I find this hilarious. Watch today's torture video below.

I definitely enjoyed my weekend. What did you do?

I'm still so full. And what should I find this morning outside my apartment door? Oh, a care package with more goodies from my manfriend's mom.

Sounds like the perfect balance for Easter. Yeah! We spent Easter day with Sweets' family in the suburbs. Very relaxed!

i'm very impressed with the egg dying skills michelle!

my weekend was pretty boring (it wasn't my easter) so your weekend totally trumps mine.

the edible grass kinda scares me though. : )

I spent my first holiday with HOM's family. He has done Thanksgiving with my family but it was the first time I had sacrificed seeing my family. It was fun but then I talked to my mom who was with the rest of my family and I cried.

Wuss.

Cute eggs...Looks like you had a great Easter! We were unconventional this year and had barbecue for Easter Lunch rather than the typical Ham dinner.

Your Easter basket is awesome. My mom still thinks I'm a kid...She gave me a huge basket. It was great!

That video is too funny. I was laughing so hard my co-workers were looking at me funny. You're eggs are so much better than mine. Lol. They were supposed to be sparkely...not so much. More of a huge glob of sparkle. Hehe.

Hmm, I was sick the entire last week, but seeing that Peep video reminded me of my senior year calc teacher and the prank war our class had with a freshman civic class that was taught by our teacher's friend. We somehow acquired hundreds of peeps after Easter when they were all like 75% off and we went out, as a class, bit off the backs and stuck them to the rival teacher's car's windows! This began a prank war that lasted the rest of my senior year! It was great!

Those eggs are fantastic-- I am still regretting not dyeing eggs, but definitely made up for it by cooking all of yesterday. My parents brought over a TWENTY-TWO POUND ham, which was impressive and altogether too much pork for one holiday. I was pretty tasty, though.

I love jelly bellys! They're like crack to me.

My weekend was sadly pretty lowkey although I'm surprised I didn't go into diabetic shock on Sunday.

Oh my goodness - Mark would totally spray paint Easter eggs too. Sounds like you guys had fun!

I went to Mark's parents' friends house and they are 100% Italian and I have never eaten/seen that much food before in my life. I still cannot move very well. The treadmill is going to be my friend this week!

Aww!! I'm happy you had a good easter! You deserved it! :-)

I am glad to see that your mom got you something, I didn't get a thing and when I complained to my mom, she acted like I was a big baby.

Okay, maybe I am, but still...you are never ever too old for an Easter basket!

I'm glad you had a good time! We skipped church (as always) and instead had a home-made brunch where I got to play the Omelette Chef. I actually really like that role, so it worked out. The 6 hours of drinking champagne was pretty fabulous too.. hahaha

I have to admit, Michelle, I'm loving the look of that spray-painted egg! :)

It's funny... I seem to think Easter is no big deal until it's passed-- then I feel like I should have been with family or doing something a little more... noteworthy?
