Confidence Boost

I was crossing the street from the parking garage yesterday on the way to work (dressed in my cute new jacket of course!) and a guy decked out in his professional attire was walking across the street and actually stopped in his tracks, did a double take and then said

"Excuse me, miss? I just wanted to say that you look really nice this morning."

I first questioned if he was actually talking to me, but then replied with a thank you and kept walking. Wait what? I kept walking? Smooth move Michelle. You're going to be really good at this.

Good move! Just because a guy says something like that, doesn't mean you have to stop and make small talk. Lap up the compliments I say!

Something tells me you're going to get a lot of this. Why? Because you're a sexy beast! Duh :)

life knows when to send a little pick-me-up, eh? because while YOU know you look nice, it's also great to hear a stranger, no less a nicely dressed guy, reaffirm it. you little hottie! :P

Yeah!! The universe is telling you something girl!! :-)

YEAAAHHH!
I used to live near a hospital and one time a doctor who was just exiting as I passed said, "Wow, can I just say that you have wonderful legs?" I said "thank you." And kept walking. The keeping on walking is CRUCIAL.

*Wolf whistle* Yeah, baby! Hahaha. Seriously though, it seemed like a sweet, sincere thing. Or am I too third world naive?

That's awesome. I think you did the right thing by politely thanking him and moving on. Take it for what it is--a genuine compliment. Plus, you look even better when you confidently keep on walking.

To keep on walking is much better than standing there looking like a lost puppy who needs a home. Good for you for looking hot!

That's the nicest pick up line I've ever heard! You work it, girl.

Sometimes it's good to leave 'em hanging a bit. :)

You go girl (snapping fingers). Told you that you've still got it!

It's the red hair - it just adds to your looking hot. The jacket may be sweet, but as soon as they see the red hair, it's just like, "Whoa! Exotic! Feisty! Good in bed! Yowza!" And then you get "You look very pretty today." Welcome darling.

Yay for compliments! It's okay that you walked away, you did say thank you after all! :)

Woot woot!
Nice one, girl!!
Those little confidence boosters are fabulous. Especially when it is something articulate, rather than some foul noise (grunts, howls, etc).

haha! That's amazing! You know though? I'd have totally done the same thing--walked away. Without thinking about it. And then 30 seconds later, just as he's out of sight, I'd hit myself in the head and say WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!

You'll get better at it:)

Good for you! Honestly, I think that's how most girls outside of a romantic comedy would have reacted ;)

Oooh! Of course you would stop guys in their tracks! I totally would have done the same thing, I never think about things like that until it's too late. But you will have MANY more opportunities!

Damn straight! You are too cute.

It sounds like you're starting to feel (the tiniest bit) better. I'm so glad. You've been in my thoughts, even though I haven't been commenting. Life has been hectic over here....

Remember, keep taking care of yourself. Do nice things for yourself, everyday. You deserve it!!

I say you rock! Even if he wasn't talking to you... you say thanks and act like you get that response all the time. YOU GO!

Why am I not the least bit surprised? You are smokin' girl...and don't you forget it!

Anonymous said...

Hehe! Michelle, not only would I do the exact same thing if that ever happened to me (it's been a long time, oh such a long time) but I would also then write a post about how hopeless I am at this whole dating and mating thing...

But, since everyone is saying that walking on is in fact the way you handle this situation--yay!

I'm not as clueless as I thought. And neither are you!

xx

very smooth. hehe. Everyone should always say what's on their mind like that...you know, unless it's mean...then you should totally just say it in your head and laugh to yourself. :)

Isn't it funny how these things seem to happen at the right time! :)

good lord! its so rare to find a great looking (dressed) guy who can be truly genuine and amazing in his speech and compliments. "you look really nice?" who says that?! Where is this man so we can build a shrine and tell all men, what's up :) loved it and hope to have a moment like that very soon!
