Spawn Of Satan

I know, I know, I didn't blog yesterday. But with good reason I swear! Clancy fixed the computer so we have the internet back (YAY!), but I HAD to watch part one of the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance. Forgive me? (Any fans out there? Who do you think's going to take the title? I'm hoping for Neil.)

Ok, on to my post. I have come to the conclusion that if Satan exists, he alone is responsible for the creation of the snooze button. It is the devil. I hit it FOUR times this morning! FOUR. TIMES. Ten minutes between each snooze = Michelle getting up 40 minutes late for work. Needless to say my hair looks like hell, lol. Seriously though, since Clancy started leaving for work at 5:30 a.m. I cannot get up on time for the life of me. I don't have to be at work until 8. I used to only hit the snooze once, and after that I would feel guilty having him have to hear my alarm go off a bajillion times so I would just get up. Now I'm not bothering anyone so I just keep hitting it. I need help!

And of course when you're running late everything starts going wrong, taking 10 times longer than it normally would. My cats kept stepping in my path and I nearly tripped and fell 3 times. The dogs took their good ole time doing their "business" outside. I couldn't leave them out there while I was showering because it rained last night and they'll play in the mud if I take my eyes off them. Then I'm all dressed, make-up's all applied and I sneeze while spraying hairspray leaving little black dots from my mascara under my eyelids. Ugh!

Not that I don't love my job, it's just this whole getting up on time thing that's not working. Freelancing is sounding more and more appealing. Getting up when you want, staying in your pjs til you feel like taking a shower. Sounds like heaven. But then there's the whole no steady paycheck thing, so maybe not.

My solution for now is to do as many "morning to-dos" the night before as possible to cut down my getting ready time. Packing my lunch, picking out my outfit, changing my purse contents (Because of course I can't wear a brown purse when I have on a black skirt - come on people!), ironing, etc. We'll see how this works out.

On a side note, here are some links to check out:

the snooze button is the bane of my existance. i've been having the problem you are having for OVER THREE YEARS. SO.... yeah. definitely not a problem that goes away. :-)

I want Sabra to win, but I'd be ok with Neil. I just really want a winner that's not already established in the professional world, because I think they'd take any opportunity to further their desire to dance. Benji was a champion last year before winning the show, and he turned down the Celine Dion job (holy dumb), and hasn't been doing much other than tv commentaries on this year's show. Sabra is amazing for only dancing for 4 years. If Danny wins, I will seriously die a little inside.

I have to set my alarm for an entire half hour earlier than I really need to get up because I hit the snooze over and over. Devil!

Snooze button is indeed the devil.
My problem is, as a PhD student in the summer, I still have tons (easy 40 hrs/week) of work to do... but, at least a few days a week, no concrete schedule. So I set my alarm for 7, to try to force myself in the 9-5 thing... but does my early morning self agree with this decision? Not in the slightest. Grrr.

I hate the snooze button too...I try to go to the gym in the morning and I swear if my boyfriend wasn't there, I would never go. Why do they have to make beds so comfortable that we never want to leave them?

I love my bed....i need my bed...

sidenote: what kind of dog do you have?

I'm too lazy to do my morning tasks at night. It's awful! My work doesn't have a really strict schedule and that makes it even harder to get up early everyday.

holy crap YOU ARE MY TWIN. (except for i'm asian and you're not. ha). this is me EXACTLY. ever since j.'s schedule changed and he started going to work before me, i've had the hardest time getting up for work. i even wrote a post about how one morning, i DREAMT that i got up and did all the things i needed to get ready for work, but woke up REALLY LATE and realized i hadn't done any of it at all. good one, mcgee.
