I'm A Believer Once Again

I'm well past the days of believing in Santa, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny. (I may also be responsible for the non-belief of all of the above for my brother, because as the older/wiser sibling I figured it out first.) Mom, dad, nice try.

Werewolves, the Loch Ness Monster, the Abominable Snowman, Big Foot, UFOs. Never crossed my mind that their existence was even a possibility.

I've given up on Fate. That what is meant to be, will be if you just let things run their course.

Screw that.

I like to be in control. And when I can't be in control, I want to know someone else is up to bat for me. That there is someone on my side, hoping that I don't strike out in the game of love (or life for that matter). Enter, Cupid. You may have heard of him? Greek god, resides on Mt. Olympus, throws a mean bow and arrow? (The TV Cupid even does a great cover of the Beatles' All You Need is Love.)

Love at first sight doesn't exist? "Poppycock, that is mortal talk." This guy takes love by the horns. I can definitely get behind that.

Any fellow believers? Or do you all think I should lock this belief up along with the puppy I never got for Christmas?

Colour me a cynic but I never believed in love at first sight or fate till it happened to me! I know it doesn’t happen to everyone, but it dose happen some times, that’s what makes it so amazing when it happens to you! Anyhoo you never know Seeya Hugya *G*

You know, while love at first sight never happened for me, I won't deny it if it happens to others. To each their own. And if you get two believers together, maybe it does actually happen.

I don't believe in Cupid or love at first sight, sigh I'm such a cynic. I have dated the guy who thought when you're in love everything should be perfect but real life married couples tell me its hard work and I believe it!

I belive in LUST at first sight. Not love. I believe it can grow into love, but it's still not "love at first sight."

But Santa? Totally real.

I don't know about love at first sight. I believe that real love is commitment, honesty, friendship, trust, and all sorts of other things that take time and work.

i don't think i will ever believe in love at first sight... unless it happens to me.

but right now, the whole concept of "fate" is giving me a run for the money... based on an npr story this morning and a not so random guy's online profile - i'm not really down with online dating but signs keep seem to point towards just contacting him.

I’ll take Santa and the Easter Bunny over Cupid anyday.

I don’t trust any grown man that still wears a diaper. And flying while simultaneously shooting a bow and arrow doesn’t seem very safe. Or reliable for that matter.

At least Santa brought toys. Cupid just served up a nice stinking platter of heartache.

ok first - you are hilarious. i love reading your posts, they make my day.

second, we definitely need to talk soon, i feel there must be a story behind this post.... ;)

third - i like being in control too, its one of our significantly common traits

Firstly, I think there has to be more behind this post than meets the eye...

Secondly, I don't know about love at first sight but having recently been reunited with a guy i LUSTED after at first sight, I like to think it is SORT OF possible, albeit in a roundabout way. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Hmm, I don't believe in fate in that sort of "everything is predestined" type of way. Because I believe you have to make it happen for yourself. But I do believe that everything is connected, that the world moves on cause and effect, and that everything you do/choose leads inevitably to something else, often something you didn't expect.

I think we control our own destiny, but I totally believe in Cupid, love at first sight, etc. I am a total sap. This is why I cry during certain dog food commercials. I mean, everyone needs SOMETHING to believe in, and if it can't be Santa and the Tooth Fairy, then why not Love?

PS
Drinks soon! Yes! I am free all next week.

I believe in attraction at first sight, but love is much deeper.

I love that you just used "poppycock" in a sentence. =)

I believe in love at first sight. And if you can't believe in your dreams, what can you believe in?

Eh. People are just too annoying for love at first sight to stick forever. And I'm afraid I enjoy fate. I use both of these arguments to support my shut-in habits.

i believe we are put on a certain path but that in so many ways we're still totally in charge of what we achieve.

i'm so passive when it comes to matters of the heart.

does this mean i'll be alone forever? possibly. but i'm cheering you on from the dating sidelines =)

Isnt that the only thing we can do is keep believing?

I believe... Im hesitant but I have glimmers of belief.
