Today Marks 5 Years...

that we've been fighting the war in Iraq.

I'll be thinking of all the soldiers who have lost their lives defending our country.
And the ones still serving.

Even though I don't agree that we should be fighting there in the first place.

But regardless of where you stand, let's all hope for an ending in the near future.
The hippie in me wants peace.

I dropped my curling iron when I heard that on the news this morning. What a waste.

Wow. Five years. It seems amazing that it's been so long, and also like forever since it started. Here's hoping it ends soon.

i remember that day so vividly because i was in florida on spring break when the news broke. i was terrified that someone i knew would have to go to war and die. and i was scared of flying because i thought another terrorist attack would happen.

i can't believe it's been 5 years! so sad.

I truly hope that each and every one knows that they're loved and appreciated. I thank God everyday for those man and women. We're so lucky..

I couldn't agree more.

I have a cousin who was in the army. 21 years old, been to Iraq twice and they wanted to send him back for a third tour. He flat out refused to go because he said he knew if he were to go back, he wouldn't come back alive.

It's so sad what our troops have been put though. I'm so grateful to them though.

Amen to that sister! That's why we cannot elect McCain come fall. And that's also why it's important EVERYONE get out and vote.

One of my good friends served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He's visiting this week and brought an MRE for me to try (Meal Ready to Eat). I will never take a granola bar for granted again.

I totally agree with you. I can't believe it has been 5 years and so many deaths. When will it end!

Wow! I can't believe that it's already been five years. It's pretty crazy that it's been that long, and we've had so many people die over there. I'm so ready for everyone to be home!

Definitely. God Bless them and their families.

Maybe that's why I'm in such a nasty mood today.

The hippie in me wants peace too.

We should never, ever EVER have gone over there.

..

*sigh*

Wow. Five years ago today I was helping my then fiance pack his backpacks and camos to ship out for a pre-deployment training. Two weeks later we would get married on an army base. Two weeks after that he would be gone for almost two years.

Thanks for the reminder. Even I didn't think of it.

We should all remember.

I feel bad for the troops. This isn't our war...it's Bush's war.

It's time to come home me thinks.

Five years is a wee bit ridiculous. Three of my cousins have gone over there (and thankfully come back) and they all just think it should be over and done with.

The hippie in me wants peace too :D

No one has to support why we are over there. But, I am a firm believer that you should support those who serve and what they represent.

I'm right there with you - when I heard the milestone on the news I felt sad....here's to all those who are or who have ever served our county.

You know, I spent a few years in the military, and I proudly support Colby's service, but I don't know what we're doing over there. I hope it's over soon.

I didn't think I had much hippie in me, but I'm with you...it will be such a relief when this is over.

5 years, that is way too long.
Just to think my uncle was over there when it started and now thinking of all he has done in those 5 years.

This hits home for me and I agree, the hippie in me wants peace too!

The hippie in me wants peace too. I'm amazed every day we don't have more people taking in interest in the country and standing up, holding more peace rallies ( I went to one (very small) today) and in general speaking out against this war. Where have our voices gone?

ugh....5 years? really? it's just so useless that they're over there. bring our troops home!
