WOW! You guys are awesome - thank you so much for all of your responses yesterday. Seriously it made my day to read your comments this morning. I will work on getting around to everyone's blogs today and tomorrow. I promise I will visit!
And if you haven't yet "de-lurked" [here's looking at YOU boyfriend - I know you read my blog ;)], read yesterday's post and say hello! :)
Now on to today's post.
I need help readers. And it's sort of a girlie question, but any guys reading (if there even are any) are welcome to chime in. I am looking for a new perfume. Let me rephrase that. I am DESPERATE for a new perfume. Mine is nearing the last drops in the bottle and I can't decide what to get! I've worn Victoria's Secret "Heavenly" for years. I love it, but it's time for a change.
A few weekends ago I wandered into the perfume department at Macy's but my allergies got the best of me after 15 minutes or so of sampling. They all started to smell the same after awhile, too.
From what I can remember my two favorites were:
"Daisy" by Marc Jacobs
includes notes of wild strawberry, violet leaves, red grapefruit, gardenia, violet, jasmine, musk, vanilla and white woods.
and the Juicy Couture fragrance
features watermelon, mandarin, pink passionfruit, marigold, green apple, water hyacinth, crushed leaves, tuberose absolute, wild rose, princess lily, caramel crème brulée, vanilla, precious woods and patchouli.
So tell me - what do you wear? What are your favorites? What have you liked that you smelled on someone else? I know perfume smells different on everyone but I need some ideas. I'm not so trendy in this area folks...help a sista out :)
One thing to keep in mind: I know I didn't like Vera Wang's new perfume "Princess" - it smelled like chocolate, but not in a good way - at least not my taste.

I haven't smelled either but they both seem lovely. Speaking of, I wear Lovely by SJP and I LOVE it.
I love Dolce perfume!
Smells great! Donna Karen- green apple...mmm
I wear Dolce & Gabbanna Light Blue and Bella Belara and sometimes Very Sexy but it seems to me that too many people have that one.
i personally like Abercrombie and Fitch's "8" (i know i know i know...) and Lucky perfume.
i love all the philosophy "grace" scents. not sure who carries them in your area, but i know they're at saphora for sure. they're all amazing smells. but for fall - i wear burberry brit.
My God-- delurking day was a massive success! Now I'm sad I didn't do it :(- I wrote some massive pondering depressing post instead ;).
I'm actually not a big fan of really multiscented complex perfumes. I like the more basic scents, like Vanilla and Rose. Actually, I'm still back in the 90s with my enjoyment of Body Shop scents.
Estee Lauder Pleasures and Acqua di Gio. I'm stuck on both. I've yet to find a new scent that I love. Picking new ones is kinda hard with the allergies.
sorry to say i can't be of much help in this department because i don't really wear perfume. eeeh gads i know! j. thinks perfume is too heavy, so i wear various water-based body splashes, which is just the right amount of fragrance for me without being overpowering.
maybe you should take clancy with you and you two can choose one together. OF COURSE it's ultimately your choice, but the way i see it, the boyfriends will be the ones smelling it the most, so why not give them some input right?
All summer I wore Salvatore Ferragmo Incanto Shine and LOVED it! It's very grapefruity & fresh...and I got tons of compliments on it.
Now that it's fall, I feel like I need something warmer & spicier. So I've started wearing Ralph Lauren Polo Blue for Women and...please don't laugh...Britney Spears Fantasy. I absolutely LOVE it! It's really sweet & yummy and so warm smelling.
Check it out and let me know what you think...oh, and don't imagine Britney wearing it...or if you do, imagine OLD Britney wearing it! ;)
I'm sorry, I tried, but I have to react. (No offense, Jenni, I read your blog and I heart you.) I imagined wrinkly, aging Britney wearing it, and it was not good. That's it. Ktnkbye.
I switch between a scent called "Falling in Love" (don't know who makes it actually) and my friend got me a Burberry perfume for Christmas last year that I love too. I recommend them both!
*I've also heard SJP Lovely is a good one too.
Okay how many Lisas are in this place?
Also. Okay don't laugh until you try- but Hollister, they have two girl scents I think. I'd check what is called BUT MINE IS MISSING. I love it. I LOVE IT. It's kind of summery but nice. It's sooooo good. Just go smell it.
I have Vera Wang's Princess, but I know what you mean. It smells better on (me at least) but it's not my favorite. I also have Armani Mania, but perfumes I used to love, I don't anymore. Like Lucky, Chanel Chance, Isy Miaki (sp?), etc. Although I did fall in love with Gucci's Envy. I'm a bit of a perfume aholic actually. Oh and Coach makes a good perfume, but my hubby doesn't like it so I don't wear it often. Great, now I need to go buy perfume.
P.S. I worked in a Vicki's and used to smell Heavenly, Very Sexy, etc. ALL DAY. Did you know Heavenly is VS' #1 selling perfume of all time? It is.
Oh P.S.S. I smelled Juicy and thought it was great! But it seemed too - young, for me I guess. I think it was the packaging. Haven't seen Daisy. I'll have to check it out.
Everyday I usually spray Ralph by Ralph Lauren. But my absolute favorite smell (that I only break out on special occasions) is Philosophy's Falling in Love. You can test it out at Sephora.
My friend swears by MJ's Daisy though
juicy sounds like a little scenty overload to me...i'd have to actually smell it to know.
but based on the description? i'd go with daisy :)
When I do wear perfume, it's DKNY- Be Delicious (green apple). It's sweet without being overwhelming. I also like True Star by Tommy Hilfiger, which I got for my bff one year. It's the one with Beyonce on the box, also a subtle scent.
Yep, I'm a DKNY girl all the way. Either that or Nina Ricci, all of her perfumes are beautiful and subtle.
Although my ultra special occasion perfumes are ones I got from Fragonard, on the French coast..
I haven't smelled Juicy, but I love Marc Jacobs. My other faves are M.Kors, Lolita Lempika and Angel.
p.s. I added you to my faves in Technorati :)
Daisy is nice!
But I don't stray these days from j'adore by Christian Dior... heaven in a bottle! :)
I wear Happy 'Heart' by Clinique. I love it. But, I am about to be in your same situation. Nearing the last few drops, reduced to a ball in the bathroom crying because there is no more. It's all I've worn for so long. It isn't time to branch out, is it?
Not included in my blog (I also hoard perfumes)...
I've been wearing Chance By Chanel, Irresistible By Givenchy, Boss intense - Hugo Boss, Burberry Brit, Cool Waters - Davidoff, Kenzo amour, Pure lavender - azzaro, L'eau D'issey, Miss Dior Cherie, Chanel No 5....
Do try these, they are absolutely whifftastic...
I've worn Chanel No. 5 since high school, which was, ahem, a LONG time ago. I dabble with new scents here and there, but I always go back to it. It's just classic and it fits me.
I wear Coco Chanel by Chanel and I love it b/c it's perfect for all seasons. I also like Gwen Stefani's new perfume. Good luck choosing
i alternate between Narciso Rodriguez For Her and Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel.
I currrently switch between Coco Chanel and Marc Jacobs. By the way, Marc is a genius no matter what he does so GO FOR THAT!
I pretty much alternate two: Chance by Chanel and Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan. LOVE.
oh darn- i was gonna recommend "princess".
do you like other chocolate stuff? cause mugler's angel is good. although a lot of people wear it. and tend to wear too much.
i have a friend who wears lauder's private collection and it smells so good on her, but not on me.
i always go back to lauder's beautiful or cacherel's anais anais.
fresh has some good stuff too.
i like both of sjp's- lovely & covet
people seem to be obsessed with donna karan's cashmere mist. it's too heavy for me.
kate spade is good too- i love the green floral bottle. also love polo sport (don't even know if they make it anymore!) clinique's aromatics elixir is an old fave, but my husband doesn't like it.
all guys seem to love women in head & shoulders. my husband loves me in that lagerfeld one in the blue bottle, and lauder's youth dew. a little goes a long way w/ that one!
such a fun post!
I love Coco Mademoiselle when i'm feeling sexy, Prada when i want to smell clean, and Burberry Brit as my everyday signature scent.
I want to try Narcisco Rodriguez, I hear it's divine.
lol!!!!!!- it's white shoulders, not head & shoulders! duh me.
I have a bunch of perfume on my counter that I rotate through, but lately I've actually been wearing the Juicy perfume you like :) I got a free sample and fell in love with it so I bought a full size bottle. I'm quite curious about Daisy also, maybe I'll have to give it a sniff soon!
I wear VS very sexy perfume. the bottle purrs when you pick it up. It's light and smells a little like Ralph Lauren's RALPH, which I was obsessed with for quite awhile.
My 2 cents. But I also LOVEEEEEEEE Trish McEvoy's #9 Blackberry and Vanilla Musk. So wonderful. You can get it at Nordstrom or Bloomies, anywhere they sell Trish McEvoy makeup.
Huge fan of Ralph Lauren Romance. I've worn it for about 5 years now. Other favorites include Anthropologie's Oiseau perfumes (The Charmer is nice). My roommate has Diesel perfume and it also smells pretty good.
Recently I smelled the new Chanel perfume in a magazine and I stopped reading immediately. It was incredibly good. Hope this helps!
I love Narciso Rodriguez for Her, the one in the black bottle. I usually wear Miracle by Lancome. I also am fond of SJP's new fragrance, Covet.
I've got a few in the rotation. In fact, Heaven is one of them. Vickie's Pink is also in there, as is A&F 8 and CK One.
GOOD LUCK!
